Linking model elements to test cases

When viewing projects in the Rhapsody Model Manager web interface, you can create links between model elements and IBM Engineering Test Management (ETM) test cases.

Before you begin

  • Links can be created to test cases only after the appropriate association has been created between the Rhapsody Model Manager project area and the ETM project area. Verify that your administrator has created such an association.
  • If the project areas have been enabled for configuration management, then both project areas must belong to the same global configuration.

Procedure

  1. To view your projects, select Designs > Explorer from the main menu of the web interface.
  2. Expand your project until you find the model element that you want to link to a test case.
  3. Click the model element to view its details.
  4. In the Links table, click Add Link, and then select Validated by from the drop-down list of link types. The Create Link window is displayed.
Add link to test case (using RMM web interface)
  5. Select the artifact container that contains the test case.
  6. Select the relevant test case.
  7. Click OK.

Results

The newly created link is now displayed in the table of links for the model element.

Note: The link is created in the ETM project area, and is therefore delivered automatically in the source control system. This is reflected in the icon for the links created to test cases, which is an arrow pointing to the left. (For OSLC links stored in the Rhapsody model, such as links to remote requirements, the icon used is an arrow pointing to the right.)
