Introduction to Data Transport
With the Data Transport feature, administrators can transport components from one Emptoris® Contract Management environment to another Emptoris Contract Management environment.
The Emptoris Contract Management administrators set up the individual components for the application on a source environment. The Data Transport feature provides a mechanism for transporting these components to a target environment after thorough testing is conducted on the source system.
To transport a component, a user must add the component to the Transport List on the source system. Then, an administrative user can execute the transport from the target system.
A transported component on the target system can be used exactly in the same way as a component created on the target system.
Advantages of using the Data Transport feature
- Users can set up components in a testing environment and then replicate them exactly in the production environment. Users do not have to create the components on the production environment again.
- The time that is required for the replication of components on the production environment is reduced and the possibility of any errors in the components is eliminated.
- If complex components are selected for transport, all dependent components are automatically selected and transported. Users are not required to select the dependent components separately.
- For some of the simpler components, such as Contract Classes, you can do a bulk transport where all the items for that component are transported.
Emptoris Contract Management versions that support the Data Transport feature
To use the Data Transport feature, the source and target systems must have the appropriate versions of Emptoris Contract Management.
The Data Transport feature is supported from Emptoris Contract Management version 10.0.2 onwards.
