Highlights of Db2 11.5.8

Db2 11.5.8 offers database efficiency, simplicity, and reliability in the form of new features and enhancements that address a wide variety of business requirements. Enhancements include new support for TLS 1.3 encryption for data in transit and better support for Db2 products on cloud services platforms.

Ubuntu support now available for remote Cloud Object Storage (COS)

Remote storage is supported by a select number of Db2® commands for accessing data on the IBM® Cloud Object Storage or the Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3). With the release of Db2 11.5.8, Ubuntu is added to the list of Linux platforms that support remote storage communication with cloud object storage. Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.3 now supported

Users can now use TLS 1.3 to establish secure communication among Db2 servers and clients. For more information, see First steps in enabling TLS in Db2 servers and clients.

New XML log records available for use in replication solutions

You can use the information from the new Common Storage Layer (CSL) manager log records to replicate XML columns in your replication solutions. For more information, see CSL Manager log records.

Db2 and Db2 pureScale now available for cloud services

Db2 is now available as a self-managed service for both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. Db2 pureScale is available as a self-managed service for AWS.
