Decreasing IBM Content Navigator login time
You can increase the amount of time that configuration objects, such as desktops, are kept in the cache to improve the performance of the web client.
About this task
The initial login time to IBM Content Navigator increases as menu items and plug-ins are added to the configuration. By changing the cache refresh interval, you can reduce the amount of time it takes users to log in to IBM Content Navigator.
Changing the cache refresh interval does not reduce login
time for the first user who logs in toIBM Content Navigator. When that first user
logs in, there is a slight delay because the configuration objects
are cached in the server. When subsequent users log in, the delay
is much shorter because the configuration objects were already cached
by the first user.
Important: Because changing the cache
refresh interval does have consequences, change the cache refresh
interval only if the login delay for the second user is more than
a few minutes.
If IBM Content Navigator is deployed in a highly available clustered environment, changes to the configuration objects are not propagated to the nodes in the cluster until the cache is refreshed.
Procedure
To change the cache refresh interval:
- Log in to IBM Content Navigator as an administrator.
- Click Settings.
- Click General.
- Increase the number of minutes in the Cache refresh interval field.
- Click Save and Close.
