Planning, installing, and configuring IBM ECM CMIS

IBM ECM Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) is an open standard that allows different content management systems to inter-operate over the Internet. Specifically, CMIS defines an abstraction layer for controlling diverse document management systems and repositories that use web protocols.

IBM ECM CMIS can be configured for the following repository types:
  • IBM CMIS v1.0 for FileNet Content Manager
  • IBM CMIS v1.1 for FileNet Content Manager
  • IBM CMIS v1.0 for Content Manager
  • IBM CMIS v1.1 for Content Manager
  • IBM CMIS for Content Manager OnDemand
  • IBM FileNet Collaboration Services
Become familiar with one or more of the following operating systems:
  • AIX®
  • Linux®
  • Linux for System z®
  • Microsoft Windows
In addition, to install and deploy IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager, IBM CMIS for Content Manager, IBM CMIS for Content Manager OnDemand, or IBM FileNet Collaboration Services, you should be familiar with the following products and technologies:
  • WebSphere® Application Server or WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment
  • Oracle WebLogic Server
  • Web application security
  • One or more of the following content management systems:
    • IBM® Content Manager
    • IBM Content Manager OnDemand, including Content Manager OnDemand Web Enablement Kit
    • IBM FileNet® P8, including Content Platform Engine
  • System operation and network administration
  • Database administration
  • IBM FileNet P8 users only.LDAP server administration
Note: You can deploy a container-based version of IBM ECM CMIS 1.1 to use with FileNet P8 Platform. For more information, see Using containers in the P8 Platform Documentation.
IBM ECM CMIS installs all of the following, but only CMIS v1.1. is supported for FNCM:
  • IBM CMIS v1.0 for FileNet Content Manager
  • IBM CMIS v1.1 for FileNet Content Manager
  • IBM CMIS v1.0 for Content Manager
  • IBM CMIS v1.1 for Content Manager
  • IBM CMIS for Content Manager OnDemand
  • IBM FileNet Collaboration Services
