Integrating IBM Content Navigator with Microsoft Office
You can access Enterprise Content Management features without leaving Microsoft Office applications. IBM Content Navigator can integrate with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
You can search, browse, add documents, check in files, check out files, and process Office document review and approval work items.
You can add content from IBM Content Navigator to your meetings, appointments, and tasks in Microsoft Outlook. You can also add content from Microsoft Outlook meetings, appointments, and tasks into IBM Content Navigator.
Working with items in IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office is similar to what you can do
in the web client, but there are some differences:
- Searching items
You can search a class or multiple classes in a repository. You cannot search across multiple repositories.
- Processing Office documents in a workflow
You can start and process Microsoft Office documents in workflows from IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office. You cannot start or process other types of workflows from this integration.
- Accessing teamspaces
You can access teamspaces in IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office, but you cannot create teamspaces or modify teamspace template definitions. Teamspaces and teamspace template definitions must be created in the web client.
The list of recently used teamspaces shows the four teamspaces that you used most recently. The list is cleared when you restart the Microsoft Office application.
- Accessing entry templates
The list of recently used entry templates shows the four entry templates that you used most recently. The list is cleared when you restart the Microsoft Office application.
Note: Office applications require a separate login. You must log into IBM Content Navigator within the
Microsoft Word application, for example.
