To access IBM® FileNet® P8 repository content, you
must first connect to at least one repository and configure it to
use IBM Content
Navigator. After
you connect to and configure the repository, you must associate the
repository with a desktop.
Before you begin
You need the repository information such as the display name,
ID, server name, and object store information to configure the repository.
If you do not have this information, contact the
IBM FileNet Content Manager administrator.
For
the following add-on features, you must install the add-on features
to an object store before you configure the repository.
- You must install the WorkPlace Template
Extensions add-on and the Workplace XT add-on.
- If you want to use cross-repository searches
and save searches, you must first install the stored search add-on
to the object store.
- If you want to use social collaboration
features, you must install the social collaboration base extension
add-on to the object store. You can install this add-on before or
after you configure the repository.
For
more information about how to install the add-on, see Installing an add-on feature to an object store in
the IBM FileNet P8 documentation.
About this task
The first time that you configure the repository and when
you connect to Content Platform Engine,
you must connect by using the Content Platform Engine administrator user
ID. You must also use Enterprise Manager to
get the repository display name and symbolic name.
When you
configure the parameters for the repository, consider the following
options:
- Add-ons
- You can specify the add-on features that you want to enable on
the repository. The add-ons create the required property templates,
classes, custom objects, and folders.
- System properties
- You can specify the system properties that users see in the web
client.
- Document and folder names
- To help users identify the folders and documents that they are
accessing from the repository, you can specify the properties that
are displayed for folders and documents. You must assign the property
that identifies the document name and folder name. For example, you
can select the document title as the property that is displayed for
a document name.
- Searches
- You can configure what users see or do when they
run searches. For example, you can specify the properties that users
can search on and the operators that they can use. You can specify
the properties to display after users run their searches. You can
specify whether users can select more properties to display, or display
only the properties that you specified. If you want users to see only
the properties that they need to complete their tasks, you can hide
the properties that they do not need.
Important: Excluding
a property from the Magazine view does not ensure that users cannot
see the property. If the user selects the property in the Results
Display option, the excluded property is displayed.
