Db2 Text Search Services Support processes all documents that are archived into a Content Manager repository using IBM Content Collector.

About this task

The archived email document is retrieved in parts. There are usually two different parts:
  • The body
  • One or more attachments
The email body is sent to IBM Db2 Text Search Services where the document parsers detect whether the email is a Lotus Notes CSN, a Microsoft MSG file, or an SMTP email. The document content in the fields such as BODY and SUBJECT is returned to Db2 Text Search Services Support which adds the content to an intermediate XML structure.

The embedded email attachments are sent to the document conversion filter services in IBM Db2 Text Search Services. After text processing, the textual content is returned to Db2 Text Search Services Support which adds the content to the intermediate XML structure.
