Installing version 8.1.6 of the License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool

Follow these steps to install version 8.1.6 of the License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool.

Before you begin

Before you install the product, read the System Requirements for License Key Server technical document to ensure that you understand the requirements.
Know how to download installation files from the IBM® Website.

About this task

Install the License Key Server:
- Installing License Key Server on Windows
- Installing the license server on UNIX
Log in as a user with administrator rights on the local computer where you plan to install the reporting tool.
If you are upgrading, see Upgrading License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool to version 8.1.6.

Procedure

Download the RLKS_Administration_And_Reporting_Tool_Master_816.zip and RLKS_Administration_And_Reporting_Tool_Admin_816.zip media files from the Fix Central.
Extract the files to a directory, such as ../ART-installer/816/ and run one of the following files from the RLKS_MASTER_DISK folder:
- On Windows operating system, use the launchpad.bat command.
- On UNIX operating system, use the ./launchpad.sh command.
The launchpad application lists two packages:
- License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool that is installed on a separate computer.
- License Key Server Administration Agent installed on the license server.
Click Install License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool option in side pane.
Click Install License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool link to install the License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool. The IBM Installation Manager interface opens and checks Installation Manager version that is installed on the computer.
Important: You must have Installation Manager V1.9.1.1.
Install the Installation Manager V1.9.1.1 for installing License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool 8.1.6.5. The Installation Manager restarts after completing the installation process.
In Installation Packages window, select License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool > Version 8.1.6.0 click Next.
The Install Packages wizard in Installation Manager displays validation results for the selected packages.

Tip: The Installation Manager does not list installed packages when you are running the installation from the launchpad. To view, update, and modify the installed packages, or to install new packages, start Installation Manager from the Start menu.
Click Next.
Accept the license agreement and click Next.
Select Create a new package group to install the reporting tool into and click Next.
The License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool is supported only on a 64-bit computer. By default, the package is installed in this directory location:
- Windows: C:\Program Files\IBM\ICL\RLKSAdmin
- UNIX: /opt/IBM/ICL/RLKSAdmin
Note: License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool and License Key Server Administration Agent cannot be installed in the same directory.
Select required languages and click Next.
Select License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool feature to proceed with ART installation and click Next.
Review the installation summary and then click Install. A summary list of installed packages displays.
In Insert Disk windows, click Browse to provide diskTag.inf file path for License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool and click Ok.
For example, \\RLKS_ADMIN\disk1
Once installation process completes, click Finish to close the Installation Manager.
Select License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool to start the application. The reporting tool is installed by default as a Windows service and can be configured as a service on UNIX platforms. If you select None in this step, you can start the application manually as a Windows or UNIX service. See Starting License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool on system startup.
