What's new

Each release offers new functions and improvements to help you take more innovation to the cloud, whether you are new to the product or if you are upgrading from a prior release. Review this information for a high-level summary of the new features and changes in each release.

  • IBM Spectrum Scale product rebranded to IBM Storage Scale

    The IBM Spectrum Scale product is rebranded to IBM Storage Scale from Version 5.1.9.0. Therefore, starting from IBM Cloud Pak System 2.3.3.7 interim fix 1, IBM Spectrum Scale is referenced as IBM Storage Scale. This release supports IBM Storage Scale pattern type 1.2.23.0 on IBM Storage Scale Version 5.1.8.0.

    WebSphere Application Server version support in 2.3.3.7 interim fix 1
    WebSphere Application Server 9.0.5.16 and 8.5.5.24 version update is supported in this release of IBM Cloud Pak System. Also, the supported WebSphere Application Server Liberty fix pack is 23.0.0.8.
    Note: WebSphere Application Server Liberty patterns now support Java 17.
    IBM Db2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern version update in 2.3.3.7 interim fix 1

    IBM Db2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern type 1.2.20.0 supports IBM Db2 Advanced Edition V11.5.8.0 (special_35599)

    Db2 updates
    • For IBM Cloud Pak System Software Suite offerings, the Db2 Advanced Edition license is provided with the Db2 pattern type. The Db2 pattern type filename is changed in this release. The new filename is now db2-1.2.20.0-sws.tgz.
    • For IBM Cloud Pak System and IBM Cloud Pak System Software offerings, the Db2 Advanced Edition license is not available. You must bring your own license (BYOL) and must provide it during deployments and upgrade scenarios. For more information, see IBM Db2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern for virtual systems.

    IBM OS Image for AIX Systems update support

    IBM Cloud Pak System on Power for Version 2.3.3.7 interim fix 1 supports IBM OS Image for AIX Systems (7.2 TL5 SP6) 3.1.2.0.

    IBM Cloud Pak System on Power for Version 2.3.3.7 supports IBM OS Image for AIX Systems (7.2 TL5 SP5) 3.1.1.0.

    Support for IBM OS Image for AIX Systems 7.1 is removed

    The support for IBM OS Image for AIX Systems 7.1 is deprecated from IBM Cloud Pak System on Power for Version 2.3.3.7 and later due to the end of service (EOS) date. Instead, use IBM OS Image for AIX Systems 7.2.

    OS Pattern Kit (AIX) 3.0.6 is supported

    The IBM Cloud Pak System W3700 on Power supports OS Pattern Kit (AIX) 3.0.6.

    Link to download OS Pattern Kit for pLinux on Power is removed from IBM Cloud Pak System W3700

    The Downloads > Download OS Pattern Kit for pLinux menu on the IBM Cloud Pak System user interface is removed on Power from IBM Cloud Pak System W3700. You can no longer download OS Pattern Kit for pLinux on Power systems.

    Db2 updates
    • For IBM Cloud Pak System Software Suite offerings, the Db2 Advanced Edition license is provided with the Db2 pattern type. The Db2 pattern type filename is changed in this release. The new filename is now db2-1.2.18.0-sws.tgz.
    • For IBM Cloud Pak System and IBM Cloud Pak System Software offerings, the Db2 Advanced Edition license is not available.     Db2 11.1 is EOS

    Db2 11.1 reached end of support (EOS). Instead, use 11.5. For more information, see Db2 V11.1 end of support (EOS) for IBM Cloud Pak System Db2 pattern type.

    Docker pattern type on Power is deprecated from IBM Cloud Pak System W3700

    The support for Docker pattern type on Power is deprecated from IBM Cloud Pak System W3700 Version 2.3.3.7 and in later versions. With this deprecation, the Docker Configuration page under Pattern development is removed and is no longer available on the IBM Cloud Pak System user interface.

    Bring Your Own Hardware (BYOH) for IBM Cloud Pak System W3700 (Power) is deprecated
    The Bring Your Own Hardware (BYOH) facility for IBM Cloud Pak System W3700 (Power) is deprecated from Version 2.3.3.7.
    Note: You can run it only on the IBM Cloud Pak System appliance.
