Administering watsonx.data

The following information describes common tasks that an administrator performs to maintain watsonx.data in production.

Caching the query results
Caching the query results in watsonx.data enables the virtualization of remote data sources and improves performance. This procedure helps you to manage, add, edit, refresh, delete, deactivate, or re-create caches.
Setting up fragment result cache
When you enable fragment result cache, it caches partially computed result on leaf worker's local SSDs. Enabling fragment result cache prevents the duplicated computation upon multiple queries and improves the performance. This procedure helps you to add (enable), edit, and delete fragment result cache.
Accessing Hive Metastore (HMS) using NodePort
You can access the watsonx.data Hive Metastore (HMS) service from outside the OpenShift Container Platform cluster by exposing the HMS using a NodePort service.
Accessing the sample bucket using MinIO console
For exploratory purposes, you can access the sample bucket that comes with watsonx.data through the user interface of MinIO. You need to create an edge route to access the sample bucket.
Importing self-signed certificates from a Hive metastore server to a Java truststore
Client applications such as IDEs and utilities must trust the Hive metastore (HMS) if it is configured to use a self-signed certificate. The software installations use self-signed certificates as default setting.
