Troubleshooting data for short on storage (SOS) problems

CICS® MustGather for short on storage (SOS) problems

SOS conditions might occur for the following reasons:
  • Other resource constraints that cause CICS tasks to occupy storage for longer than is normally necessary
  • A flood of tasks that simply overwhelms available free storage
  • Badly designed applications that require unreasonably large amounts of storage

Follow this instruction to analyze your SOS conditions. Review the logs and dumps generated at the point of failure.

Gather the following diagnostic information before contacting the CICS support team to troubleshoot your SOS problems.

Required data:
System dump taken at the point that the SOS condition occurs. Capture the dump by placing SM0131 or SM0133 in the system dump table. For example, enter CEMT SET SYD(SM0131) SYS MAX(1) ADD to add SM0133 and request one system dump.
Optional data:
CICS message log containing either message DFHSM0131, DFHSM0133 or DFHSM0606.
