Basic and advanced functions
Integrating Content Collector for SAP in
your SAP environment
has many benefits. The most important functions of Content Collector for SAP are
described in this information.
Data archiving
When an SAP system goes into production, its database has usually a size that allows for efficient storage of data on local hard disks of the database server. During production, the database usually grows continually and can easily reach rates of 30 to 50 percent per year, a figure that often affects the system performance and administration effort within one to two years of usage. With Content Collector for SAP , you can archive mass data that is not actively used during regular system operation.
Document archiving
For legal and internal policy reasons, companies must keep documents for a certain time. Filing the documents on paper or on microfiche requires a large amount of storage. Paper documents and microfiches are available to local users only and must be duplicated when more than one user needs them. In addition, retrieving paper documents and microfiches can be time-consuming and inefficient. With Content Collector for SAP , you can process the documents electronically.
Document linking
You might have documents that are archived in a repository but are not linked to SAP yet or cannot be linked by using SAP ArchiveLink . Content Collector for SAP offers various linking methods.
Print-list archiving
Print lists are documents, such as reports, analyses, or journals of books, that are produced by SAP and formatted for printing. They contain, for example, information about the items that a customer purchased in the past, such as the order number and the value of the individual orders. Print lists are normally printed. With Content Collector for SAP , you can archive print lists.
Document preprocessing
Outgoing documents can be changed by a preprocessor before they are archived for viewing or printing. Content Collector for SAP provides a preprocessor user exit that allows for including one or more preprocessors that you supply. You can use one preprocessor per MIME type.
Document retrieval and viewing
All documents and print lists can be viewed with the SAP GUI. For documents that are stored in IBM® Content Manager , Content Manager OnDemand , and FileNet® P8 , you have more possibilities.
