Configuring the Advanced Backup and Recovery for z/OS Monitoring Agent

For the Advanced Backup and Recovery for z/OS Monitoring Agent, you must include the Advanced Backup and Recovery base product load library (SBKMLOAD).

Perform the following steps in Configuration Manager or PARMGEN:
  1. For Configuration Manager, ensure the override embed support is enabled. For more information about overriding embed members, see Using override embed members.
  2. Modify member KRV$SST1 in rtePlibHilev.rteName.EMBEDS (Configuration Manager) or WCONFIG (PARMGEN) to add or uncomment the DD definition for SBKMLOAD that will then be added to the generated monitoring agent STC JCL:.
    //    DD DISP=SHR,
    //    DSN=<MY. SBKMLOAD.HLQ>.SBKMLOAD
  3. Optionally, configure any of the common agent parameters as described in Common agent parameters (Kpp and KAG). For an out of the box installation, no customization of these parameters is necessary.
    If you want to add or change any of the common agent parameters you can do this in the WCONFIG(rte_name) data set member for PARMGEN or create a member RTEDEF(KRV$PARM) with the respective parameter changes in case you use Configuration Manager.
  4. Run the GENERATE action (Configuration Manager) or the $PARSE step (PARMGEN) to generate the required RKANPARU members and the proper STC definition.
  5. Follow the general Complete the Configuration steps as listed in Completing the configuration outside the configuration software.
    There are no specific steps to perform for this product other than the generic tasks like APF authorization, PROCLIB and VTAMLST setup and so on.
For general information about Configuration Manager and PARMGEN, refer to Configuring products and components on z/OS.
