214 - Transportation carrier shipment status (version 4010)

This topic describes the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) standards that Business Transaction Intelligence implements for document type 214 (version 4010), or transportation carrier shipment status message, which allows buyers and sellers to track their shipment.

Note: The 4010 version is not supported in the document configuration feature. You must use version 4020 or higher if you want Business Transaction Intelligence to configure your EDI X12 214 documents.

Syntax notes:

  • AT702 is required if AT701 is specified.
  • AT704 is required if AT703 is specified.

Semantic notes:

  • AT701 or AT703 is the carrier line status.
  • AT702 or AT704 is the carrier line status reason.
  • AT705 is the carrier line date.
  • AT706 is the carrier line time.

There are four codes in the AT01 field that are interpreted to mean that the shipment has been delivered:

  • CD = Carrier departed delivery location.
  • D1 = Completed unloading at delivery location.
  • X1 = Arrived at delivery location.
  • X5 = Arrived at delivery location loading dock.

All other codes in the AT701 field are interpreted to mean that the shipment remains in transit.
