November 2023

The following is a summary of the updates that are made to the Commands topic collection:

  • Added information about the vfcstat command that displays information about virtual Fibre Channel client adapters.
  • Added information about the -S flag in the restvg command. The -S flag specifies that the target physical volumes must have the same encryption policy as source physical volumes.
  • Added information about the bimpctr and bimpptrgl options in the ld command that improve performance in large executable object files.
  • Added information about the -c flag in the nimconfig, niminit, and nim_master_setup commands. The -c flag enables secure sockets layer (SSL) authentication during NIM master initialization and push operations.
  • Added a new option 4 for the -v flag of emgr command.
  • Added information about the -A flag in the nimadm command.
  • Added information about the -N flag in the platform_dump command.
  • Added information about the -iname expression term for the find command.
  • Added information about hash_instructions tunable parameter in schedo command.
  • Added a new statistic field SFP Information that is displayed in the output when the fcstat command is used with the -e and -d flag.
  • Added information about the /etc/tunables/usermodified file in the vmo, ioo, raso, schedo, and asoo commands.
  • Added information about the -w flag in the rmlv and reducevg commands.
  • Added information about Audit Support feature in the ksh93 command.
  • Added information about roce_v2_mode tunable parameter in the no command.
  • Added information about the -f flag in the lsmpio command. The -f flag is used to display Fabric Performance Impact Notification (fpin) error counts for the local adapter ports and remote storage ports.
  • The as command that reads and assembles a source file in AIX and is the default AIX assembler is now 64-bit executable.
  • Added a new tunable option nBufferPerPagerDevice for the -o flag of the mount command to specify the number of file system buffers for JFS2 file system on a per file system basis..
  • The existing security feature is enhanced for vmo, asoo, ioo, raso, and schedo commands to have the required privileges to run in the Role Based Access Control (RBAC) model.

November 2022

The following is a summary of the updates that are made to the Commands topic collection:

  • Updated information about the -v flag in the chpv command. You can use the chpv -v m command to manually mark the physical volume as missing.
  • Updated information about the threshold count options in the hpmstat, pmctl, and tprof commands.
  • Updated the version information for the sendmail command.
  • Added information about the -E flag in the ping command. The -E flag sends or receives ping packets over specific interface for both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols.
  • Added information about the -K flag in the netstat command. The -K flag displays all reliability, availability, and serviceability (RAS) artifacts for the specified prototype.
  • Added information about the --format=pax flag in the tar command. This optional flag creates an archive file in the PAX/POSIX format.
  • Added new possible values Sby, Nav, and Trn for the path_status field in lsmpio command.
  • Added a tunable parameter unix_sock_buf for the no command that specifies the system default socket buffer size (in bytes) for Unix socket domain buffers.
  • Added pvm_wdog capability keyword for the -c flag in mkcluster command.
  • Added new syntax in keysvrmgr command for the add, modify, remove, show, verify, and rekey action parameters.
  • Added information about key server and hpcs server ODM attributes in keysvrmgr command.
  • Added new possible value logshuffle={INLINE|logdevicename} for the -a flag of the chfs command.
  • Added a new logdev option for the remount parameter of the -o flag of the mount command.
  • Added shmpsize: psize option for the -b flag in the ld and ldedit commands.
  • Added a new command nvmesed that manages the nonvolatile memory express (NVMe) self-encrypting drives (SED).
  • Added emgr_check_ifixes, emgr_download_ifix, emgr_sec, emgr_sec_patch commands for management of security patches.
  • Added a note in alt_disk_copy command and alt_disk_mksysb command about usage of encrypted physical volumes to create an alternate rootvg volume group.
  • Added new syntax and description for fcstat command to use -p flag with Interval parameter and -t flag with Protocol parameter.
  • Added statistics fields Network Information: Fabric Node Name and Network Information: P2P Port Name for the fcstat command. Also added a new example to display the time-series report of traffic statistics.
  • Added ip_env=6 attribute for -a flag of the nimconfig command. Also added an example to configure a dual-stack environment on an already configured NIM master by using the ip_env=6 attribute.
  • Added -e flag in the nimclient command to configure NIM client environment to support the dual-stack mode.
  • Added a new system path configuration variable BLOCK_SIZE with an example that specifies the block size of the storage device in bytes in getconf command.
  • Added information about physical volume encryption and description of showpv, pvenable, pvdisable, pvsavemd, and pvrecovmd action parameters for hdcryptmgr command.
  • Added information about how to create an encrypted physical volume and how to check and correct encrypted volume metadata under scenarios in hdcryptmgr command.
  • Added information about managing Input/Output (I/O) tunable parameters in the ioo command.
  • Added -L flag in thelparstat command to display information about logical memory and memory pool.

  • Added information about the following new commands:
    • Added information about the mksysb_iso command that creates a bootable ISO 9660 media from a system backup image (mksysb).
  • Updated information in the following commands:
    • Updated information about the ipc_msgmnb parameter in the vmo command.
    • Updated information about the inetd daemon in the xmtopas command.
    • Added information about the cache full timer feature, -r and -s flags in the rpvutil command.
    • Added information about the tcp_cubic parameter in the no command.
    • Updated information about the configure a dump device in the sysdumpdev command.
    • Updated information about the path control module (PCM) attribute in the manage_disk_drivers command.
    • Added information about the showconv and setrvgpwd subcommand in the hdcryptmgr command.

    • Updated the nimadm command with the new boot logical volume size. When you migrate your current AIX version to AIX 7.3, the size of the boot logical volume is 40 MB.
    • Updated information about the -K flag in the asoo command, ioo command, no command, raso command, schedo command, tuncheck command, tuncheck command, tundefault command, and vmo command. The -K flag allows you to apply the tunable parameter values across the Live Update operation.
    • Updated the -k flag description in the chvg command command. You can now change the data encryption setting if the volume group is varied on in the concurrent mode.
    • Updated information about the Vxlan and Geneve tunnels in the ifconfig command and netstat command.
    • Added information about the dr_embd_lmb and dr_multi_lmb tunable parameters in the vmo command.
    • Updated information about Network Time Protocol (NTP) version 4 in the following commands: ntpd4 command, ntpq4 command, ntpdate4 command, ntptrace4 command, ntpdc4 command, and sntp4 command. The following commands are no longer supported: xntpd, xntpdc, ntpdate, ntptrace, ntpq.
    • Enhanced the pmcycles -M command to report the measured processor frequency.
    • Enhanced the lparstat -N command reports the EnergyScale power and performance mode and processor frequency information on Power10, and later, processor-based servers.
    • Added information about support for Simple Authentication and Security Layer (SASL) based authentication in the sendmail command.
