SMP cable isolation for 9080-MHE, 9080-MME, 9119-MHE, or 9119-MME

Use this information to isolate SMP cable problems for 9080-MHE, 9080-MME, 9119-MHE, or 9119-MME systems.

To isolate an SMP cable problem, complete the following steps:
  1. Is the reference code B114E504?
    If Then
Yes: Continue with the next step.
No: Return to the procedure that sent you here. This ends the procedure.
  2. Display the iqyylog.log file from the Hardware Management Console that is in the Enhanced Customer Data Repository (ECuRep). Find the reference code (+PEL) B114E504. Then, find the signature description that is displayed below the list of failing items for the reference code.
  3. A signature description contains a node number in the form of nx, an SCM number in the form of px, and an "A bus" number in the form of Ax or ABUSx.

In the following example, the node number is n1, the SCM number is p2, and the "A bus" number is ABUS0:

    pu(n1p2) (IOAFIR[18]) ABUS0 Max Spares Exceeded

In the following example, the node number is n0, the SCM number is p0, and the "A bus" number is A2:

    pu(n0p0) (PBESFIR[14]) A2LINK_PSR_UNC_ERR

Record the node number, SCM number, and "A bus" number from the signature description that you identified for reference code B114E504.

  4. Use Table 1 and the node number, SCM number, and "A bus" number that you identified in step 3 to find the location code of one end of the SMP cable. Then, go to Cabling for 9080-MHE, 9080-MME, 9119-MHE, or 9119-MME to identify the other end of the SMP cable.
  5. Is the SMP cable fully seated at both of the port locations that you identified in step 4?
    If Then
    Yes: Continue with step 7.
No: Continue with the next step.
  6. Complete the following steps:
    1. Fully seat the SMP cable at both of the port locations that you identified in step 4.
    2. Clear all of the deconfiguration errors. For instructions, see Clearing all deconfiguration errors.
    3. Power on the system. For instructions, see Powering on and powering off a system.

    This ends the procedure.

  7. Complete the following steps:
    1. Replace the SMP cable that you identified in step 4 and both of the processor modules that are indicated in the failing item list.
    2. Clear all of the deconfiguration errors. For instructions, see Clearing all deconfiguration errors.
    3. Power on the system. For instructions, see Powering on and powering off a system.

    Does the problem persist?

    If Then
Yes: Continue with the next step.
    No: This ends the procedure.
  8. Replace both of the system backplanes that are associated with the processor modules that you replaced in step 7. This ends the procedure.
