Power cabling
IBM lab based services is responsible for connecting the building block power cables.
The following table shows the cabling diagram for cabling power for 60A feeds.
Note: This illustration is provided to show the power cabling for the PDUs. It does not represent
the particular racking order for the devices in the rack, or the exact configuration of devices
installed in the rack.
Figure 1. Power cabling diagram
The scalable building block is configured with four PDUs if 60A feeds are used.
Table 1 shows the internal cabling connections between the four PDUs and the power supplies (PSs) in the scalable building block components.
The cabling diagram uses the following abbreviations for the components to be cabled:
- BBx for the building block number. For example, BB1 is building block 1.
- EXPx for an additional AE2 storage enclosure. For example, EXP1 is additional AE2 storage enclosure 1.
- PDx for the power distribution unit (PDU). For example, PD1 is PDU 1.
- PWx for the power supply. For example, PW2 is power supply 2.
- Sx for the side in the rack. For example, S1 is side 1 in the rack.
- SWx for the switch number. For example, SW1 is switch 1.

Note: If two 16 Gbps FC switches are used instead
of four 8 Gbps FC switches, the cabling connections for switch 3 and
switch 4 in Table 1 are
not needed.
