MustGather information for Windows
The more information that you can collect about a problem, the easier it is to diagnose that problem. A large set of data can be collected, although some is relevant to particular problems.
The IBM® Support Assistant Data Collector is the recommended utility for collecting Java™ diagnostics files for a problem event. The IBM Support Assistant Data Collector collects diagnostic files such as dumps and log files, and helps you to send the information to IBM, if required. For more information, see Using diagnostic tools.
The following list describes a typical data set that you can collect
to assist IBM service to fix your problem.
- Javadumps
- Javadumps can be generated automatically or manually. Automatic dumps are essential for IBM service. See Using Javadumps in the J9 VM reference.
- Heapdumps
- If generated automatically, they are essential. They are also essential if you have a memory or performance problem. For more information about heapdumps, see Using Heapdumps in the J9 VM reference.
- System dumps
- System dumps are generated by the JVM. See System dump. This type of dump contains key information that helps to diagnose the problem.
- JIT dumps
- JIT dumps are generated in response to a general protection fault (GPF) or abort event, providing diagnostic data for IBM service. For more information, see JIT dumps.
