Risk Manager overview
IBM Security Risk Manager provides early visibility into potential security risks by correlating insights from multiple vectors to help you prioritize remedial actions based on prescriptive recommendations.
Limitations and known issues
Before you use IBM Security Risk Manager, make sure that you are aware of the known issues and limitations.
Asset and data source connections
The data source connections are created and configured to import risk feeds into IBM Security Risk Manager from various security source products for analyzing and calculating the risk score of the assets. The entities such as databases, applications, assets, IP addresses, and hostnames are collectively referred to as assets in Risk Manager. The risk feeds from various products are imported into the Risk Manager repository by using the core services such as Universal Data Insights and Connected Assets and Risk.
Asset management
IBM Security Risk Manager provides a unified view where you manage an inventory of assets, their risk attributes, and other related details that are used for risk score computation. The entities such as databases, applications, assets, IP addresses, and hostnames are collectively referred to as assets in Risk Manager. The broader view of asset risk information helps you to easily identify critical risks and prioritize mitigation activities.
Threat management
IBM Security Risk Manager provides a unified view where you manage threat data, asset data in which the threats were detected, and indicators of comprise (IOCs). The broader view of threat data helps you to easily identify and analyze the critical risks for prioritizing mitigation activities. Threat and asset data are imported into the Risk Manager repository from multiple products.
Risk configuration
IBM Security Risk Manager provides a risk scoring framework that uses a consistent and common risk definition across your organization's security risk areas.
Security risk visualization
The IBM Security Risk Manager risk dashboard provides a unified view of disparate risk metrics from multiple sources and multiple vectors of security to obtain a high-level overview of your organization's risk posture.
Recommendations
You can take prioritized remedial actions in accordance with the risk severity to reduce risks based on the prescriptive recommendations that are provided by IBM Security Risk Manager.
