Enabling observability for IBM Fusion clusters
Use these instructions to enable multi-cluster observability for IBM Fusion clusters.
Before you begin
Make sure that you met the following prerequisites:
- Network connectivity between clusters and the hub or query endpoint.
- S3-compatible object storage for long-term metrics retention.
About this task
Achieve a comprehensive multi-cluster observability solution for IBM Fusion using Red Hat® Advanced Cluster Management or an existing Thanos and Grafana
infrastructure. Multi-cluster observability uses open-source technologies to create a centralized
monitoring solution:
Thanos- Provides global querying across multiple Prometheus instances and long-term metrics storage in S3-compatible object stores.Grafana- Delivers visualization dashboards for metrics analysis and alerting.Prometheus- Collects metrics from each managed cluster and sends data to the hub cluster.
- Fleet overview
- Unhealthy data services
- Active environmental risks
Procedure
Resources for custom IBM Fusion
observability dashboards or configuration YAMLs are available through the GitHub repository.
What to do next
The centralized dashboard represents a fundamental shift from reactive to proactive infrastructure management, ensuring your IBM Fusion fleet maintains optimal performance while minimizing the risk of undetected issues escalating into service outages.
