Renumbering and randomizing the content set

Deleting items from your content set (for example, item numbers 3-5) leaves a gap in the content set item order (for example, 1, 2, 6, 7, 8...). For continuous content item numbering, you can renumber your content set by clicking Renumber on the Content Set menu.

About this task

You can also randomize the order of items in your content set. This is recommended prior to creating and analyzing a knowledge base, especially if items in the same category are grouped together (see Content item order).

You can choose to randomize the current content item order, or save a randomized copy of the current content set. Note that when you randomize the content set, the randomized version replaces the current content set.

Restriction: Do not randomize the order of your content set if you want to view the Cumulative Success By Date/Over Time graphs (see Summary graph: Cumulative Success By Date / Over Time). For these graphs, content items must be in the order in which they were received by the system.

Randomizing the current content item order

Procedure

On the Content Set menu, click Randomize Order. The order of content items is randomized.

Saving a randomized copy of the content set

About this task

This function saves a randomized copy of selected items only. It does not affect the order of the current content set.

Procedure

  1. Select the items that you want to save in random order.
  2. On the Content Set menu, click Save in Random Order.
  3. On the Save As window, enter a name for the content set, navigate to a directory, and click Save. A randomized copy of the content set is saved.
