Getting started with IBM eDiscovery Manager

IBM® eDiscovery Manager assists you with electronic discovery by enabling you to search electronically stored information (ESI) such as office documents, email, and other content. Using its web client and sophisticated search function, you can search content properties individually or in combination with each other. You can also perform full-text searches of the content.

You can then view the content that met your search criteria in either HTML preview mode or in the appropriate client application to ensure that your searches found relevant results.

Working within the context of a legal matter, you can create folders in which to store search results. When you save search results to a folder, you put a legal hold on that content. This means that no one can delete the content from the content server for as long as it is contained in an eDiscovery Manager folder.

You can save the search terms that are associated with each search result for later reuse or modification. You can also schedule searches to repeat at regular intervals so that you can continue to find new content as it is added to the content server. Being able to schedule searches lets you run the searches at non-peak times for best performance too.

After you are satisfied with the quality of the content that you collected, you can export it for further analysis.
