Status LEDs
The Status LEDs (2 and 3 in Figure 1) provide information about the state of the drive. The Ready status LED is green and the Fault status LED is amber, and (when lit) solid or flashing.
| Mode | SCD | Ready LED (green) | Fault LED (amber) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operational | Blank | On/Off | Off |
| Activity (tape movement) in Operational Mode | Blank | Flashing | Off |
| Maintenance | Solid character | Flashing | On |
| Executing Maintenance Selection | Flashing character | Off (7226 drive feature) Flashing (eServer) |
On |
| Error Condition | Solid character | Off | Solid/Flashing |
| Power-On / Reset Initialization | random segments | Off | On |
Table 2 lists the conditions of the Status LEDs and Single-character Display (SCD) and provides an explanation of what each condition means.
| If the green Ready Status LED is... | and the amber Fault status LED is... | and the SCD is... | and the SCD Dot is... | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Off | Off | Off | Off | The 7226 drive feature drive has no power or is powered off. The eServer drive will be in this state when powered up and ready with no tape loaded. |
| Green/ Solid | Off | Off | Off | The 7226 drive feature and eServer drives are powered on and in an idle state. The 7226 drive feature drive will be in this state when powered on even if no tape is loaded. For the eServer drive, this state also means a tape is loaded |
| Off | Amber/ Solid or Flashing | Displaying an error code or Maintenance Mode Function | On/Off | The drive is displaying error code(s) from the error code log on the SCD. |
| Flashing/Off | Amber/ Solid | Displaying |
Off/On | The Ready Status LED is Flashing while in maintenance mode for both the 7226 drive feature and eServer drives. When exiting, the Ready Status LED is Off on the 7226 drive feature, but is still Flashing on the eServer. |
| Off (7226 drive feature) Flashing eServer) |
Amber/ Solid | Flashing selected function | Off/On | The 7226 drive feature drive is executing the selected function while in maintenance mode. The Ready Status LED on the eServer drive will be Flashing while executing the selected function. |
| Off | Flashing Amber; once per second (7226 drive feature) Solid/ Flashing Amber (eServer) |
Displaying error code | Off | An error occurred and the drive or media may require service, or it may require cleaning. Note the code on the SCD, then go to Error Codes and Messages to determine the action that is required. |
| Off | Flashing Amber (7226 drive feature) Solid Amber (eServer) |
Displaying |
Off | The drive needs cleaning. |
| Off | Flashing Amber (twice per second) | Off | Off | The drive detected an error and is performing a firmware recovery. It will reset automatically. |
| Off (7226 drive feature) Flashing (eServer) |
Amber/Solid | Flashing |
Off | The drive is requesting a cartridge to be loaded, which would only be in Maintenance mode. |
| Off | Flashing Amber (twice per second) | Off | On | There is a drive dump in flash memory. |
