Adding dynamic content to the subject line

You can add dynamic content to the subject line of an email.

About this task

Your dynamic content subject line should look like the following example:

To add dynamic content to the subject line on an email template, complete the following steps.

Procedure

  1. Create or open an email template.
  2. On the Mailing Settings tab, click Dynamic Content next to the subject line field.

    Did you create your dynamic content rulesets for this email?

    • If Yes, continue to Step 3.
    • If No, create, load, or import the rulesets. You can choose any of these options from the dynamic content drop-down list.
  3. Select Reuse Ruleset.
  4. Select your ruleset and click Next.

    The following dialog box displays:

    The ruleset you have chosen to apply has one or more subject content areas associated with it.

    This message is expected.

  5. Select NONE: Load rules only and click Next.
  6. Name your content area, such as subject.

    The Edit Ruleset dialog box appears, with your existing rules already populated.

  7. Click the plus (+) sign to expand Rule 1. At the bottom of this rule, in the Then Show Text field, type in your dynamic subject line.

    Repeat this step for each of your rules.

  8. Click Save.
