Installing the IBM Debug for z/OS Eclipse IDE with IBM Installation Manager

You can find the step-by-step instructions for using the AQUA update site to install IBM Debug for z/OS® by using IBM Installation Manager.

Before you begin

Ensure that IBM Installation Manager is installed. To obtain a latest version of IBM Installation Manager, go to the AQUA downloads website. You can also find additional instructions about different variations for installing IBM Debug for z/OS at this site.

Procedure

  1. Start IBM Installation Manager.
  2. Add the AQUA update site as a repository:
    1. Select File > Preferences.
    2. In the Preferences window, select Repositories.
    3. Click Add Repository.
    4. In the Add Repository window, specify the following repository URL: 
      https://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/htp/zos/tools/aqua3.3/
    5. Click OK to save the repository.
    6. Click OK to close Preferences window.
  3. Click Install.
  4. Select IBM Explorer for z/OS and IBM Debug for z/OS, and click Next to proceed.
    Note: IBM Debug for z/OS is an Installation Manager extension offering, which means it extends another offering. Its pre-requisite is IBM Explorer for z/OS.

  5. Review and accept the license agreement, which includes the license for IBM Debug for z/OS.

  6. Optional: Specify the location of shared files. If this is the first time that you install a product with IBM Installation Manager, you are prompted to specify a location for shared files. Click Next to proceed after all required information is specified.
  7. Specify product information.
    • Select whether to use the existing package group or create a new package group. If no compatible product is installed, you can only create a new product group.
    • Specify the directory to install the product-specific files.

    After all the information is specified, click Next to continue.
  8. Select the desired languages for the user interface and click Next.

  9. Click Next to validate selected features and proceed to the final installation window.
    Click Next.
  10. Click Install to install selected features.
    When the installation is complete, click Finish to close the window.
