Starting, stopping, or displaying the status of an SAG Add-On

The SAG Add-On runs as a service that can be operated from the Windows Services Management Console. For example, to operate an SAG Add-On:

  1. Log on to the SAG workstation as the SAG Remote Application (RA) owner or as an administrator.
  2. To open the Windows Services Management Console, click Start→ Settings→ Control Panel→ Administrative Tools→ Services. The Status column shows the current service status:
    • "Started" indicates that the service is started.
    • No entry indicates that the service is stopped.
An example of an SAG Add-On that is stopped is shown in Figure 1.
  3. To start or stop the service, select SAG Add-On from the list of services and click Start or Stop in the action menu, or the Start or Stop icon in the icon bar. The status shown in the Status column of the console changes to reflect the new status. The graphic below shows the Services Management Console with a stopped SAG Add-On service.

If the SAG Add-On is deadlocked and cannot be stopped, kill the SAG Add-On process manually. To do this:

  1. Open the Task Manager Window (press Ctrl+Alt+Del, then click the Task Manager button).
  2. Click the Processes tab and select the dnfnssao.exe process.
  3. End the process by clicking the End Process button.
  4. Verify that the process was removed from the processes list.

If the SAG Add-On stopped due to errors, check the Event Viewer. To open the Event Viewer, Right-click on the start button → Event Viewer. In the Event Viewer, select Windows Logs → Application Log and look for error events from the SAG Add-On. To find them more easily, order the events by source and look for events from the source SagAddOn. Figure 2 shows the Event Viewer with an SAG Add-On event selected in the Application log.
