Security and User Permissions
You must assign permissions to users and user groups to read contracts and perform various functions in the Emptoris® Contract Management application. Permissions must be given for features and specific object instances.
Definition of permission
A permission provides access to a user or user group to a feature or specific activities within the feature. Permissions are instance-level or class-level. All instance-level permissions are also available at class-level.
Permission group
A permission group provides a set of access rights for features or activities in the feature. A permission group for an object instance is specific to the object class. For example, a permission group for a contract contains permissions that are applicable to contracts only. A permission group in Security Manager includes permissions that apply to several object classes.
Applying set of permissions
To apply the same set of permissions to multiple users at a time, you can assign a user group to a security list and match it with a permission group.
Permissions are applicable to internal users only. External users are restricted to certain activities for authored and received contracts and amendments.
Combination of users and permissions
You can create the following combination of users and permissions.
- Individual user that is matched to individual permissions
- Individual users that are matched to permission groups
- User groups that are matched to individual permissions
- User groups that are matched to permission groups
