Creating charts

Add charts to your dashboard to obtain a comparative view of measurements for quick, valuable insights. You can make informed decisions, pinpointing areas that need attention and exploration.

Procedure

  1. Create a dashboard by following the instructions in Creating dashboards.
  2. Click Chart+.
  3. Enter a unique name and a telling description.
The description is optional but the name is mandatory: The Create button becomes available only after you start typing a name.
  4. Select a measurement.
For more information about measurements, see the main concepts in Business Performance Center overview and the chart tables in Charts and Measurements.
  5. Click Create.
The edit pane to your left displays configuration options, and the preview pane displays the chart.
  6. Click Done.
The chart is displayed in the dashboard area as a tile, which you can move around.
  7. Select Edit from the overflow menu Chart options local menu, to choose a monitoring source, add or remove filters, predictions, visualizations, thresholds, depending on what makes sense for the type of your chart and the data that you expect to see.
Note: When selecting a monitoring source, a combo box will appear, to help you search for a monitoring source. To clear the selection, click on 'x' and continue filtering your search. Enter keywords separated by spaces to get results that include all the keywords.
  8. When the chart is in editing mode, click the Edit configuration icon edit icon next to the chart name, to change its name, description, and type.
Tip: Be aware that changing the type of chart affects which visualization options are available. For example, you cannot define thresholds for metric charts nor predictions for heat maps or tables. For details of chart types and measurements, see Charts and Measurements.
Note: Except for the drill-down, you can hide the title of charts, and the chart description appears when clicking on the toggle tip
    Toggle icon
