What are workflow automations
A workflow provides the framework or model for sequencing and delegating work to address a specific business situation. Choose your model based on the pattern of your workflow. You can orchestrate multiple workflows (structured processes, unstructured cases, or services) in a workflow automation to address a specific business situation. Workflows can be published as automation services so that they can be discovered and reused.
Creating a workflow automation
Design and develop workflow automations and workflow automation services to optimize core business processes.
Providing workflow automation services
Create an exposed automation service to reuse a business function that is implemented using a process or a service flow. Then, publish the exposed automation service in IBM Business Automation Studio so other business applications (applications), business automations (automations), and external clients can discover and call it.
Calling an automation service from a workflow automation
Discover a published automation service from the Business Automation Studio catalog, and call it from a workflow automation.
Implementing an external client to interact with workflow automation services
To implement an external client, you can view the OpenAPI definition for an exposed REST automation service available in the development environment by opening the service in the REST Service Editor, and clicking the OpenAPI definition URL in the Behavior section.
Deploying and installing workflow automations
You can run a workflow automation directly or call it from other business automations and external clients. You can also publish a workflow as an automation service that you can call and reuse in a consistent way, for example from a user interface. The workflow automations run on workflow servers.
