Installing and uninstalling IBM App Connect on Red Hat OpenShift

OpenShift-only contentYou can install IBM® App Connect on a Red Hat OpenShift cluster with internet access by using the IBM App Connect Operator that is distributed through the IBM Entitled Registry. You can also install the Operator in an air-gapped environment (that is, a restricted or disconnected network with no connection to the internet), by using a Container Application Software for Enterprises (CASE) bundle.

From the Red Hat OpenShift OperatorHub, which provides a user interface for discovering Operators, you can install the IBM App Connect Operator into your cluster to obtain an independent deployment of App Connect.

The IBM App Connect Operator is also included with IBM Cloud Pak for Integration, which delivers a collection of product capabilities (or components) in a streamlined integration solution. App Connect provides the application integration capability within the unified containerized environment. Cloud Pak for Integration is delivered as a set of Operators within the OperatorHub.

If you want to use identity and access management (IAM) to control access to the authoring and runtime environments that App Connect provides, you need to install the IBM App Connect Operator as part of a Cloud Pak for Integration deployment. Different licensing offerings are provided to support the following IAM deployments:
  • A full Cloud Pak for Integration deployment that includes the standard product capabilities with IAM
  • An App Connect deployment that includes IAM with a restricted entitlement to Cloud Pak for Integration
