Cinder configuration is overwritten when configuring multiple storage back ends with XIV or DS8000

The Cinder configuration might be overwritten when you configure multiple storage back ends.

Problem

When you attempt to configure a storage node with multiple back ends that include XIV® or DS8000® and another supported storage system (for example, Storwize®), the resulting cinder.conf file misses the configuration for the other storage system, and contains only the information for the XIV or DS8000 back end.

Causes

The Cinder driver and cookbook for XIV and DS8000 storage do not support multiple block storage back ends. For more information, see Cinder driver and cookbook for XIV and DS8000 storage do not support multiple block storage back ends.

Resolution

Configure multiple storage nodes, where any storage node with XIV and any storage node with DS8000 is configured with a single back end.
