What's new in Maximo Visual Inspection 9.0

Learn more about what's new and changed in Maximo Visual Inspection 9.0.

Automatic scaling and separation of a workflow

The workflow operations in a data set are now run in a separate HorizontalPodAutoscaler (HPA) scalable pod. HPA automatically scales a pod up or down as the resource requirements of a data set workflow fluctuate.

This automatic scaling and separation of a workflow addresses scalability issues. These scalability issues include large and frequent volumes of file uploads and the viewing of data set related pages, such as the data sets summary page and a data set details page.

For more information, see the vision-service-dataset section of the Workload scale customization topic.

Dynamic workload affinity customization

You can specify what GPUs are used for inference workloads and training workloads for more efficient AI workloads.

For more information, see the vision-dnn-service and vision-edge-dle sections of the Workload scale customization topic.

Edge manager diagnostics

You can now run diagnostics from the Edge manager dashboard to see the status of an edge device. You can run one diagnostics report at a time.

For more information, see Edge manager.

Multiple data retention policies

As an administrator, you can now create multiple data retention policies to determine when data is automatically purged from inspection data sets. Users can then select a data retention policy from the list of policies and add it to an inspection type data set.

For more information, see Creating and adding a data retention policy.

Support for NVIDIA Ada and Hopper GPUs

NVIDIA Ada and Hopper GPUs are supported for training and inference. To use NVIDIA Ada and Hopper GPUs, you must have an NVIDIA driver that is sufficient to support CUDA 11.8.

Note: Kepler GPUs, including GPUs with a compute capability of 3.5 or 3.7, are no longer supported.

For a list of supported GPU devices, see Supported GPU devices.

Support for the Java SE Development Kit 17

Maximo Visual Inspection in Maximo Application Suite version 9.0 now runs on Java™ SE Development Kit 17.

The Java SE Development Kit 17 runs on the IBM Semeru Runtime Certified Edition Version 17 for WebSphere Liberty.

For more information, see WebSphere Liberty for developers in the IBM Support documentation.
