SAGs and their use with FTM SWIFT

SWIFTAlliance Gateway (SAG) is a SWIFT software product that provides applications and services with access to the SWIFT Secure IP Network (SIPN). In the FTM SWIFT documentation, the term SAG is used to indicate one instance of the SAG software. In the SWIFT documentation, such an entity is sometimes referred to as an SAG instance. Each SAG runs on a separate workstation called an SAG workstation, which can have one of the following as its operating system:
  • AIX®
  • Microsoft Windows
  • Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® (RHEL x86)
FTM SWIFT message processing services pass messages to the SIPN via one or more SAGs. Although messages can be processed by a single SAG, to increase availability or throughput you might prefer to run several SAGs concurrently. These SAGs can be configured to share their source of outbound message traffic, and thereby automatically balance their workloads. FTM SWIFT provides the means to implement such clusters of SAGs. For more information, see SAG clusters
FTM SWIFT SAG configuration and operation services provide a central interface to SWIFTNet components from which you can:
  • Configure, administer, operate, and monitor any number of SAGs, thereby eliminating the need for a SWIFTAlliance WebStation for these activities
  • Issue SWIFTNet administration commands such as local registration application (LRA), key management authority (KMA), and role based access control (RBAC)
For more information, see SAG configuration and operation.
