Supported actions on annotations

You can insert, export, update, and delete annotations that initiated from FileNet® Image Services. You can also create, update, and delete annotations that initiated from Content Platform Engine.

The following table summarizes the effects of actions that are initiated from either system:

Insert	Federate new FileNet Image Services annotations to Content Platform Engine. The annotation content is stored on both FileNet Image Services and Content Platform Engine.
Export	Federate FileNet Image Services annotation to Content Platform Engine. The annotation content is stored on both FileNet Image Services and Content Platform Engine.
Update	Update FileNet Image Services annotation content and permissions on Content Platform Engine. The annotation content is updated on both FileNet Image Services and Content Platform Engine.
Delete	Delete FileNet Image Services annotation content. The annotation content is deleted from both FileNet Image Services and Content Platform Engine.

Create	Create new Content Platform Engine annotations. The annotation content is stored on Content Platform Engine only and can be replicated to FileNet Image Services.
Update	Update Content Platform Engine annotations and annotation security. The annotation content is updated on Content Platform Engine only. You cannot update federated annotations.
Delete	Delete Content Platform Engine annotations. The annotation content is deleted from Content Platform Engine only. You cannot delete federated annotations.

Updates to annotation security on either Content Platform Engine or FileNet Image Services are propagated to the other system.
