Managing objects
As an administrator, you can monitor and control object activity
by enabling audit logging and setting retention policies. In addition, you can view object holds,
undo object deletion by managing recovery bins, and move objects in bulk between storage
areas.
Tracking object activity
Auditing is the logging of custom or system events that occur for objects so that you can track critical activities. Most events on FileNet P8 classes can be audited including those events that pertain to security, content management, and business transactions. The automatic logging of an event creates an audit entry in the audit log (the database Event table). Audit entries can also be programmatically created by custom applications.
Retaining objects
Set a retention period to specify how long an object must be retained before it is eligible for deletion. You can set retention on an object or you can specify a default retention period on a class.
Viewing the hold status of an object
A hold is a means of preventing deletion of an object. You can determine if a document is on hold by viewing the hold property for that object.
Sharing objects with external users
You can configure your FileNet P8 repository and your IBM Content Navigator instance to enable the sharing of content with users that are external to your organization. Although this capability exists only for users with the IBM Content Navigator client, you must also configure Content Platform Engine to enable external sharing for these users.
