Folder overview

Content Platform Engine folders are very similar to the folders that users of graphical desktop applications are familiar with. Both types of folders look the same, and both help organize and display the documents and other items that users need to do their work.

However, with the powerful features of FileNet® P8 folders, you can modify their behavior and configure what they contain. For example:

• Documents and folders themselves can appear in more than one folder at a time.
• Each folder has its own fully configurable security.
• You can create subclasses of the base folder class and add custom properties that are passed to new folders based on that class.
• Folders can be hidden and unhidden using a property based on a property template supplied with the default object store.
• Folders can subscribe to the event action subsystem.
