Copying installation files to the appropriate servers

Copy the IBM® Enterprise Records installation package files to the local directory on the specified server. Ensure that the files are not moved or deleted from their location.

About this task

Copying these files is important if you must reinstall and cannot find the original media.

Procedure

To copy the installation files:

  1. Create a folder on your local computer where you plan to store the files and record the location of this folder for later reference.

    For example, on AIX or Linux, create the opt/IBM/EnterpriseRecords directory, or on Windows, create the C:\Program Files\IBM\EnterpriseRecordsdirectory.

  2. Access the installation media and copy all of the files to the folder that you created on your local computer.
  3. Extract the following files from this folder to the specified server:
    Software package files Copy to
    All extracted installation program files The application server whereIBM Content Navigator is installed.
    5.2.1-IER-platform.ext file

    This file is the installation program that is used to install the IBM Enterprise Records components. For example, 5.2.1-IER-WIN.EXE is used for the Windows licensed program.

    		 Your ier_install_path location. For example, on a Windows (32-bit) system, C:\Program Files\IBM\EnterpriseRecords.
    ier_silent_install.txt: file

    This file is the silent installation input file that is used to install the IBM Enterprise Records components.

    		 Your ier_install_path location.
    Events directory

    These files contain the XML and JAR files that you can use to complete tasks such as auto-declaration of records. This directory contains a Readme.pdf with instructions on how to create and subscribe to events.

    		 The server where IBM Administration Console for Content Platform Engine is installed and used to configure events.

    For AIX or Linux operating systems, the Events directory is packaged as a TAR file. Copy the TAR file to your system, and then extract the contents.
    Language folder that corresponds to your locale from the LocalizationAddOns directory

    These files contain globalized source files for the IBM Enterprise Records add-on.

    		 The IBM FileNet® Content Engine server at CE_install_path/FileNet/ContentEngine/resources
    Reports directory

    These files contain the Crystal Reports templates for generating reports to help you manage the IBM Enterprise Records environment.

    		 The application server where Crystal Reports is installed.
    Samples/Workflow directory

    These files contain a sample file plan, sample templates, and a sample workflow.

    		 The server that you use to access the IBM Content Navigator web application to install the sample workflow.
    media.inf file

    This file provides information that is used by the setup software.

    		 Your ier_install_path location.
    readme.htm file

    This file provides instructions on how to access the general documentation for the IBM Enterprise Records product.

    		 Your ier_install_path location.
    version.txt

    This file provides information about the product build versions that are used in this release of IBM Enterprise Records.
