Purpose of this information
- Run in a sysplex
- Share status information
- Send and receive messages using signaling paths
- Automatically restart jobs and started tasks if they or the system on which they are running unexpectedly terminate
- Share data using the coupling facility
- Serialize on resources using the coupling facility
- Runs in supervisor state
- Runs under PSW key 0-7
- Resides in an APF-authorized library
Some of the sysplex services, however, are restricted to callers with a PSW key of 0.
Who should use this information
This information is for programmers designing or modifying a multisystem application or subsystem to run in a sysplex and take advantage of the communication, recovery, and data sharing functions available to sysplex members.
Programmers using this information should be extremely knowledgeable about the MVS operating system and assembler language programming.
