When a software error is detected, the volume error status field in the tape configuration database (TCDB) is updated to reflect the error, however there is no equivalent software error category. In a manual tape library environment, the setting of this field is for informational use only. An operator can attempt to mount a cartridge with an error condition and if the error condition no longer exists, it will be cleared.
