Adding status probe definitions to an analysis group

Stabilized feature: CICSPlex® SM Real-Time Analysis (RTA) is stabilized. Consider moving to Policy system rules or to a dedicated monitoring product such as IBM OMEGAMON for z/OS. See also Stabilization notices and discontinued functions.

An analysis group (RTAGROUP object) is used to associate one or more related analysis definitions (RTADEF objects), status probe definitions (STATDEF objects), or both, that are to be associated with an analysis specification or an analysis point specification.. After you have created an analysis group, continue with adding related status probe definitions to this group.

Procedure

  1. From the main menu, click Administration views > RTA MAS resource monitoring > Status probes to open the Status probe definitions (STATDEF) view.
  2. Select a status probe definition by clicking on the Record check box and click the Add to RTA group button. The Add to RTA group view is displayed.
  3. Provide the following information:
    Resource group name
Enter the specific or generic name of an analysis group with which this definition is to be associated. If you specify a generic value, a list of valid analysis groups is displayed.
    Period Definition name
(Optional) Enter the specific or generic name of a period definition that identifies the range of hours during which the status definition is to be active. If you specify a generic value, a list of valid period definitions is displayed. If the name you specify is not an existing period definition, you can create that period definition later. If you leave this field blank, the status definition remains active for as long as the CICS® system is running or until you discard it.
  4. Click Yes to add the status probe definition to the analysis group. Otherwise, click No to abandon the process.
