Deactivating or discarding a status probe definition

Stabilized feature: CICSPlex® SM Real-Time Analysis (RTA) is stabilized. Consider moving to Policy system rules or to a dedicated monitoring product such as IBM OMEGAMON for z/OS. See also Stabilization notices and discontinued functions.

When a status probe definition (STATDEF object) is installed in an analysis point, its status is either ACTIVE or PENDING. You can change the status of an installed status probe definition.

About this task

The status is available in the Status field in the view for the RTAACTV object. For more information, see RTAACTV Resource Table. The status can have the following values:
ACTIVE
The definition is installed and active.
PENDING
The definition is installed and ready to become active.

A status definition is active during the time period identified in the Period field. (When this field is blank, the definition is to be active as long as the CICS® system in which it is installed is active.)

Procedure

  • To deactivate a definition with an ACTIVE status for which a time period is defined:
    1. Access the Status definitions (STATDEF) view.
    2. Click the Record check box beside the status probe definition to be deactivated.
    3. Click Deactivate.
      The Confirm view is displayed.
    4. Click Yes to deactivate the selected status definition. Otherwise, click No to abandon the process.
The definition remains installed; its status is changed to PENDING. The next time the end of the associated time period is reached, the definition will become active again.
  • To discard a definition with an ACTIVE or PENDING status and to remove the definition from the analysis point in which it is installed:
    1. Access the Status definitions (STATDEF) view.
    2. Click the Record check box beside the status probe definition to be discarded.
    3. Click Discard.
      The Confirm view is displayed.
    4. Click Yes to discard the selected status probe definition. Otherwise, click No to abandon the process.
