Backing up and restoring Sterling Order Management System

From Self Service, users with the Developer role can create a backup of the Sterling™ Order Management System on the preproduction environment, and restore the backup to the same system.

Backup

By taking the backup of the Sterling Order Management System application with Self Service, you can capture a specific state of the Sterling Order Management System databases, configurations, and customizations on the preproduction environment.

You can take multiple backups of the preproduction environment. However, only one backup is saved. When a new backup is taken, the old backup is deleted.

Restore

You can restore a backup of a preproduction environment of the same release version. You cannot restore an earlier version of the application, if the current version is a major version change. You can restore an earlier version if the current version is a changed fix pack version.

When an environment is restored, the customizations and configurations of the backed-up version are restored on to the current version. During the restore process, all message queues are cleared. You must manually restart the agent and integration servers after the respective configurations from the backup are restored.
