Apply the licenses for IBM Db2 Event Store Standalone/IBM Watson Studio deployment

IBM® Db2® Event Store Standalone/IBM Watson® Studio deployment leverages the use of several technologies that require you to activate the licenses that come with the installation.

About this task

Two of the technologies that Db2 Event Store uses are IBM Watson™ Studio and IBM Watson Machine Learning. In the installation of Db2 Event Store, a 60-day trial version of IBM Watson Studio and IBM Watson Machine Learning are installed. After the 60 days, the licenses for both of these will expire and the functionalities will be disabled. The following procedure will highlight how to fully unlock IBM Watson Studio and IBM Watson Machine Learning with the enterprise licenses that come with the installation of Db2 Event Store.

Procedure

  1. Find the enterprise license provided by IBM Sales or included in the installer tarball under the /dsx_licenses/ directory. The licenses are in .txt format. The IBM Watson Studio enterprise license is located at dsx_licenses/dsxl_license.txt, and the IBM Watson Machine Learning enterprise license is located at dsx_licenses/mmd_license.txt.
  2. Access the license management page in the IBM Watson Studio web UI from the browser at this URL: 
    https://<proxy-ip-address>/dsx-admin/#/license
    Where <proxy-ip-address> is replaced accordingly.
  3. You are directed to the license management, where you can toggle between the license management of IBM Watson Studio and IBM Watson Machine Learning. You will need to upload the correct license file for each product.
  4. Click on the Upload License File button in the Identification section. You will be redirected to the End-User License Agreement page, where you need to read the agreement, click the Agree check box, and click on the Continue button.
  5. After clicking the Continue button, you are prompted to upload the license file for the product of your selection. Select the license file on your computer, and click Open. You will see the green check mark with the text License Verified. Make sure to upload dsxl_license for IBM Watson Studio, and mmd_license for IBM Watson Machine Learning.
  6. After uploading the licenses, you have unlocked the full functionality of both IBM Watson Studio and IBM Watson Machine Learning.
