Creating a block pool

Use this procedure to create custom storage pools which map to storage classes.

1. Go to Storage > Data Foundation.
2. In the Data Foundation window, click Storage Systems.
3. In the Storage systems tab, select the required storage system.
4. Go to the Storage pools tab and click Create storage pool.
5. In the "Create storage pool" dialog, do as follows:
   1. Select the Volume type as Block.
   2. Enter a Pool name.
   3. Select the Data protection policy as either 2-way Replication or 3-way Replication.
      Remember: The default pool does not support the 2-way replication data protection policy. However, you can use 2-way replication if you create an additional pool.
   4. Optional: Select the Data compression checkbox to optimize storage efficiency.
      Important: Enabling compression can impact application performance and might prove ineffective when data to be written is already compressed or encrypted. The application does not compress the data written before enabling compression.
   5. Click Create.
