Differences in acknowledgment processes between MT and MX messages

In ITXA, you can process an XML-based message (such as a SEPA or an ISO 20022 message) and configure whether you want to generate an acknowledgment.

SWIFT MT is a legacy non-XML proprietary message format. MX messages are the XML-based replacement for MT messages. Both can coexist and be dealt with through translation rules. With ITXA, you can process an MX message (or a SEPA or ISO 20022 message) and configure for which messages that you want to generate acknowledgments.

ITXA can process acknowledgments for noncompliant MT messages, such as for a document IBAN (financial institution unique account) message, as well as for messages that are Rejected, Accepted, or Accepted With Errors.

In ITXA, if business headers exist, you can use the Bulk envelope to process the acknowledgment for the entire message. You can also use the ISO 20022 envelope to process acknowledgments. If transaction splitting is not turned on in the ISO 20022 envelope, then the acknowledgment is processed for the entire message. If splitting is turned on, then acknowledgments are processed for each split transaction that matches that ISO 200022 envelope.

Important: You must supply your own ACK generation maps for ISO 20022/SWIFT messages. ITXA provides an ACK generation map for MT messages only. The custom ACK generation map should expect input card 1 to be the original message and input card 2 to be the InterchangeComplianceReport.xml document.
