The Commodity Purchasing Dashboard

The Commodity Purchasing Dashboard view of the application user interface contains information to support the work of an Infoberry purchasing analyst. The dashboard view allows the analyst to monitor the key factors that are related to Infoberry purchasing, and it provides the information that they need to decide whether to initiate a manual purchase.

Each part of the Purchasing Dashboard is described in the following sections. The descriptions are provided in a logical explanation order, not the exact order that they appear on the screen.

Projected Supply

This is a line graph of the projected supply of Infoberries. The information is called a projected supply because it immediately takes into account a purchase order for more Infoberries and adds it to the projected supply. You can use your mouse to hover over a point on the graph to see exactly how many bushels of Infoberries make up the supply at a particular point in time.

There are a few sections of the graph where the background is shaded to indicate important supply thresholds.
  • The pink region of the graph means that the supply level is dangerously low. Dropping below this level might negatively affect juice production.
  • The blue region of the graph indicates supply levels when to buy more Infoberries. The need for additional supply is not urgent, but ideally the supply levels should be kept close to, or above, the top of the blue region.
  • The white (or very light blue) region of the graph indicates a good supply of Infoberries.
  • The top of the graph indicates a supply level that should not be exceeded under normal circumstances. The projected Infoberry supply should never exceed 50,000 bushels.

Optimal Supplier Ranking

The Optimal Supplier Ranking section ranks each supplier according to an overall score. The overall score is affected by a number of factors, including the quality of the berries and the risk in getting the supply. The top-ranked supplier is the best supplier to purchase from at any point in time. The top-ranked supplier is automatically selected when purchases are made.

In addition to the overall score, the table also shows other values that are associated with each supplier.
  • Weather Score rates each supplier in terms of the weather conditions and their effect on Infoberry quality.
  • Weather Warnings indicates the number of severe weather watches and warnings at the current time for the supplier location.
  • 18-Hour Temp Range shows the magnitude of the temperature variation over the last 18 hours in degrees Fahrenheit.
  • 18-Hour Temp Avg shows the average temperature over the last 18 hours in degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Relative Humidity shows the current relative humidity.

Weather Scores

The Weather Scores section displays a bar chart that shows the cumulative average of the weather score when a purchase is made. This chart is an indicator of how successful the purchases were at obtaining high-quality Infoberries.

Buy Distribution

The Buy Distribution pie chart shows the distribution of purchases across the supplier locations. Over time, it will show which suppliers the company buys from the most often, and which suppliers are rarely used. You can hover over any portion of the pie chart to see the details for a particular supplier.

Purchase History

This table shows a listing of the purchase history. Up to the last 40 purchase transactions are shown.

Recent History Graphs

At the bottom of the dashboard are a set of recent history graphs. To view data in these graphs, select one or more suppliers from the Optimal Supplier Ranking table, and click the Chart Selected Locations button below the table. You can hover over the points in the graphs to view the details of the history.
