Viewing online help in Acrobat Reader on AIX 7.1
Unable to view the online help documents from Datamart GUI in AIX 7.1.
Symptoms
Unable to view online help because Acrobat Reader is not installed in AIX 7.1.
Causes
Tivoli® Netcool® Performance Manager DataMart supports an Adobe Acrobat PDF help system. To view the online help on AIX 7.1, you need to add the acroread binary.Resolving the problem
- Start VNC server by using the following command:
/usr/bin/X11/vncserver -depth 24 - Install Adobe® Acrobat Reader® version 7.0.9 for AIX.Note: During the installation, you might see a warning message that indicates the Acrobat Reader will not run on AIX 7.1. Click Yes to have Acrobat Reader proceed normally.
- Start the DataMart GUI as pvuser.
- Click the Help from any of the options available in DataMart GUI.You might see an error message on PPKLite.api, for example:
Error while loading PPKLite.api plugin. The plugin failed to initiateTo remove the error message, delete or rename /usr/lpp/Adobe/Acrobat7.0/Reader/rs6000aix/plug_ins/PPKLite.api, where /usr/lpp/Adobe/Acrobat7.0 is the installation path.
- Verify acroread binary is present in /usr/bin.
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 38 Apr 25 06:17 acroread -> /usr/lpp/Adobe/Acrobat7.0/bin/acroread - If the acroread binary is not present in /usr/bin, run the following
command:
ln -s acroread /usr/lpp/Adobe/Acrobat7.0/bin/acroreadVerify that acroread binary is now present in /usr/bin.
- Relaunch the DataMart GUI and click Help to view any of the documentations available.
