Exporting or importing KPI hierarchies

You can create a hierarchy of KPIs that are associated with the IBM® Intelligent Operations Center solution. As an administrator, you can import an existing KPI hierarchy as a JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) file, or export the existing KPI hierarchy to a JSON file.

About this task

To avoid reconstructing a KPI hierarchy, you can import an existing KPI hierarchy JSON file that was exported from a different instance of IBM Intelligent Operations Center. The KPI hierarchy import imports the existing KPI hierarchy into the solution, and then replaces the hierarchy that is already in the solution with the imported KPI hierarchy.

To generate a copy of an existing IBM Intelligent Operations Center KPI hierarchy, you can export the hierarchy to a JSON file. The KPI hierarchy export exports the entire KPI hierarchy. If you export a KPI hierarchy, links to reports, named areas, or authorizations are not maintained as the hierarchy must be transferable between IBM Intelligent Operations Center installations. To display the replacement KPI in the user interface, edit your permissions.

Procedure

  1. Click Administration > Solution Administration > Configuration Tools > Key Performance Indicators.
  2. In the Relationships and Display tab, complete one of the following steps.
    • To export the full KPI hierarchy for the solution, do the following substeps:
      1. Click Export KPI Hierarchy.
      2. Use the file explorer to select the location to export the KPI hierarchy JSON file to.
    • To import a KPI hierarchy into the solution, do the following substeps:
      1. Click Import KPI Hierarchy.
      2. Use the file explorer to locate the KPI hierarchy JSON file that you import.

Results

The KPI hierarchy that you selected is either exported from the solution or imported into the solution.
