(AAxx) Partition firmware reference (attention) codes

Partition firmware posts AAxx system reference (attention) codes, which offer information about the next target state for the platform firmware. These codes might also indicate that you need to perform an action, such as opening a firmware console or checking serial connections.

The AAxx table uses the following format:

Table 1. (AAxx) Partition firmware reference (attention) codes

Reference Code Description/Action Perform all actions before exchanging Failing Items Failing Item
AA00E158
  1. Open ASMI
  2. Select Power/Restart Control-->Power On/Off System
  3. Select 'continue to operating system' on the option labeled "AIX/Linux partition mode boot"
AA00E159 Waiting for the serial connection to the service processor to be established

Check the serial connection to the service processor. Correct all problems that are found.

AA00E175 The I/O configuration exceeds the recommended size. Some operating systems might crash when using this configuration.

Increase the logical memory block size to 256 megabytes (MB) and reboot the managed system.

Note:
If the logical memory block size is already 256 MB, contact your next level of support.

AA00E1A8 The system is booting to the open firmware prompt FWFLASH
AA00E1A9 The system is booting to the System Management Services (SMS) menus.
Note:
If the system or partition returns to the SMS menus (as indicated by this progress code) after a boot attempt failed, use the ASMI menus to inspect the progress code history:
FWFLASH
AA00E1B0 Waiting for the user to select the language and keyboard

Select the language and keyboard.

PFW1548
AA00E1B1 Waiting for the user to accept or decline the license agreement

Accept or decline the license agreement.

PFW1548
AA00E1F3 Admin access password prompt

On the firmware console, enter the password for the admin user of the service processor

AA060007 A keyboard was not found

Ensure that a keyboard is attached to the USB port assigned to the partition.

AA06000B The system or partition was not able to find an operating system on any of the devices in the boot list.

Modify the boot list using the SMS menus so that it includes devices that are know to have a good copy of the operating system and retry the boot. If you are still unable to boot an operating system, go to Problems with loading and starting the operating system.

AA06000C The media in a device in the boot list was not bootable.

Replace the media in the device with known-good media, of modify the boot list to boot from another bootable device. If you are still unable to boot an operating system, go to Problems with loading and starting the operating system.

AA06000D The media in the device in the bootlist was not found under the I/O adapter specified by the bootlist.

Verify that the medium (CD-ROM, for example) from which you are trying to boot is bootable, of try another medium. If you are still unable to boot an operating system or diagnostic CD-ROM, go to Problems with loading and starting the operating system.

AA06000E The adapter specified in the boot list is not present or is not functioning.

If AIX is being booted, and can be booted from another device, do so, then run online AIX diagnostics against the failing adapter. If AIX cannot be booted from another device, boot standalone AIX diagnostics from CD-ROM or a NIM server and run diagnostics against the device.

If Linux is being booted, boot standalone AIX diagnostics from CD-ROM or a NIM server and run diagnostics against the device.

AA060010 The FAT file system on the boot disk is configured in a way that might cause a boot failure.

Increase the FAT partition size by 10% to keep the number of data clusters fewer than approximately 4080.

AA060011 The firmware did not find an operating system image and it was unable to detect at least one hard disk in the boot list. Firmware is now retrying the entries in the boot list.

This error might occur before the initialization of an enclosure that contains the boot disk completes or when the boot disk belongs to another partition.

If this problem persists, do the following:

  1. Verify that the boot disk belongs to the partition that is being booted
  2. Verify that the boot list in the SMS menus is correct
AA130013 Bootable media is missing from a USB CD-ROM

Put a bootable CD in the USB CD-ROM and retry the boot operation.

AA130014 The media in a USB CD-ROM has been changed.
  1. Retry the operation.
  2. Check for server firmware updates; apply if available, then retry the operation.
AA170210 Setenv/$setenv parameter error: the name contains a null character. FWFLASH
AA170211 Setenv/$setenv parameter error: the value contains a null character. FWFLASH
AA190001 The server firmware function to get and set the time-of-day clock reported an error
  1. Use the operating system utility to set the system clock.
  2. If the problem persists, check for server firmware updates and apply them, if available.
AA260001 The system is waiting for someone to enter the machine type, model, and serial number.

At the system prompt, type the machine type, model, and serial number of the system.
